| Welcome to Envision, the professional portfolio of Chad Weitzel. One thing that
you may find about this site is that its always changing. Is that good? Bad? It depends on your point of view, I suppose. Even
though I prefer consistency and stability, I feel that I always need to change my portfolio to reflect the advances in technology,
my own knowledge of web design, and the amount of new material that I want to present.

Oooookay. Time for an update!
So its been about a year since I've updated the site. Sue me. I can explain my hiatus from design by admitting
my problem: I was working as a receptionist. I have since shaken that habit and am currently seeking help.
Why did you change your portfolio (again)?
Because I didn't like the look of it anymore. It was kinda blocky, contained a bunch of useless musings that
I tried to pass off as "wisdom", and generally screamed: "Hey! I'm a student!!!" But don't worry, if you
really have the need, you can visit the old portfolio on the AOL server here.
Will you build another all-flash portfolio?
Eventually. I want to build a static version first so I can then devote the time to building a really cool all-flash portfolio.
The current incarnation of Envision has incorporated a lot of flash, but it is a far cry from being a full-fledged flash site.
During the construction of this site, I have had a lot of ideas come to me from surfing the net and from some of my former students
at the Academy of Learning. When the all-flash version of the site is complete (which won't be for a while), it will incorporate
quite a bit of the look and feel of the HTML version (it's all about consistency)!
In the earlier version, you used CSS positioning and no tables?
Yes. Unfortunately to get the look I wanted for version 2 of this site, CSS and I had quite a few disagreements. So I fell back
to using tables. CSS positioning is a great tool, and I would have loved for this site to have been built the same way. As a
compromise, I used quite a bit of CSS around the site; mostly for text styles, but I did use a bit for positioning purposes.
Why don't you have your own domain?
Not having full time employment for a long period of time tends to put a damper on the finances. Trust me, I fully intend on
getting my own domain name in the future. For now I am content (and very appreciative) of Vlad for letting me host my portfolio
on his site.
Thanks Vlad! |
